This project is to evaluate contemporary trends in international business to gain an updated perspective of the theoretical and practical developments in the field of international business research and practice. A discussion of a range of new trends, including new international markets, competitors, technologies, opportunities and challenges that influence international business and the operations of firms on a global level in both direct and indirect way.

Research Methodology:

  1. Critically assess the emergence of emerging markets and of emerging market multinationals as strong actors and competitors in international business
  2. Critically assess the strategies used by multinational enterprises and EMNEs to address challenges and institutional voids in emerging markets
  3. Demonstrate a critical understanding of the opportunities and challenges posited by global value chains in the global economy and evaluate the role of MNEs in content
  4. Evaluate critically the role and impact of digitalization on international business
  5. Critically access the opportunities and challenges available for international business as a result of new trends in international markets, competition, stakeholders and technologies
  6. Utilize the appropriate techniques in identifying the complexities and contradictions in international business dynamics

Brief Summary of Report:

Grupo Herdez SA de CV who is a leading Mexican food manufacturer and have powerful presence in domestic and US markets is willing to expand its processed food products into one of the emerging markets. Meanwhile, its top management is considering to broaden their market reach into Thailand due to its economic growth, urbanized population increasing and technological landscape advancements. With PEST analysis, Thailand's stable GDP growing, and low inflation rate that make economical attractive in spite of the moderate political instability can be evaluated. In contrast, Herdez would encounter institutional voids including local financial laws adaptation, culture differences, skill gaps in larbour market and etc. When considering for the rise of GVCs, both opportunities and challenges could be evolved. However, with the help of strong relations with local authority bodies could be successfully doing business in Thailand.
